I will turn 43 in June. I believe my life is already halfway through.
I want to buy a Windows laptop, specifically a 13-inch one.
I don’t have any specific use case, so it might be a waste of money.
But my current laptop is a 15-inch MacBook Air, and it’s a bit bulky for carrying around.
And I can’t play games that are only supported on Windows using it.
Unfortunately, it’s not a good time to buy.
Due to the price hike in memory, the price of a laptop is also increasing.
As Golden Week was over, I’ll not have any extra days off by holiday until late July.
I started to feel that a day off is very important, especially after getting older.
Probably I was strong enough in my 30s when I was able to resist pressure and stress.
Time was still abundant when I was young.
The concept of value keeps changing.
We took a family photo at a photo studio.
We will have Shichi-Go-San for my younger daughter, so we wanted to have a pre-event photoshoot.
This will be the last Shichi-Go-San event for my family.

Surge
My company’s stock price has surged by 20% since around the time of the latest earnings call.
It’s huge as I have the share, which is close to 400k$.
Still far from FIRE, but I hope I can graduate from labor soon.
I got a 6% merit increase this time, which is close to 100M yen per year, so it seems my company is still thinking I’m able to contribute to their business.
Even with a 10+% increase in sales and profit with the stock surge, we have announced layoffs to cut about 4000 jobs.
Still, I’m not able to find a better company to move.
30M yen salary, full remote, opportunity to use Enlighs, discretionary work system, no overtime, etc.
There may be jobs available that have the same or better conditions, but I believe it’s not easy to find.
I submitted some topics to Cisco Live Melbourne 2026, but I’m not sure if they’re going to be chosen.
Anyway, those external events are more for sales and pre-sales.
Troubleshooting and escalation handling are not super hot for those events, and it’s too difficult for ordinary participants.
Golden Week
I’m enjoying Golden Week in my wife’s hometown. Although time flies, I still have five days off.
My father-in-law has started showing signs of dementia. The symptoms are currently mild, but there is no definitive medical treatment to cure it. Aging is inevitable, not just for the individual but also for those around them, such as family and friends. We must learn to live with it.
Speaker submissions for Cisco Live Melbourne have opened, and I plan to submit a few topics. This time, I’m considering a troubleshooting theme rather than marketing or pre-sales material. After all, this is where my expertise lies.
I have read 55 books so far this year and will continue reading. From some perspectives, the brain’s peak capability does not necessarily occur at a young age. There should still be room for me to grow as well.
